Father’s Day Car Gifts: Show Dad You Care

Show Dad You Care
Show Dad You Care

Father’s Day is on June 17th, which means now is the perfect time to buy Father’s Day car gifts. While anyone can buy their dad a new tie, if you want to stand out from the crowd and show Dad that you really care, it might be time to buy a car-related gift. This includes things like new tools, phone mounts, and more.

According to Best, one of the top car-related gifts is a steering wheel cover. Steering wheel covers keep your hands cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and they also protect the original materials from wear and tear while adding necessary grip. Best of all, steering wheel covers are affordable, so you won’t break the bank with this gift idea.

Does Dad have a pet? Consider buying a car seat protector. These protectors are great for covering leather and cloth seats, protecting the material from scratch marks and accidents. Most are heat resistant and stain resistant, making them great for long trips.

You can’t go wrong with a car care kit. Meguiar has a complete kit for about $50, though you can always build your own. Every kit should have a fine cloth, wax, tire cleaner, leather conditioner (if applicable), and a high-quality auto detergent.

If Dad’s a film buff, you could also consider buying a collection of movies. The Man and Le Mans is a great film documentary about Steve McQueen, and you can also consider buying a box set of Top Gear (the British version, of course).

Finally, a 200-piece mechanic’s toolset will make any mechanically-inclined dad happy. Though this gift can set you back at least $200, it will be a great way to show that you really care this Father’s Day.

As you work on buying the right car gift for your dad, feel free to ask us at Dependable Mitsubishi for recommendations.

How to Transport Your Christmas Tree Without Damaging Your Mitsubishi

How to Transport Your Christmas Tree
How to Transport Your Christmas Tree

Every year, your family heads out to your favorite Christmas tree farm and picks out the perfect tree for your home. Now, you have the problem of taking it home. Here are a few tips on how to transport your Christmas tree without damaging it or your car.

  • Trust the experts. If there are workers at the farm or lot who will help you load up your tree, or even do it for you, let them. They deal with hundreds of trees each year, while you only manage one.
  • Wrap the tree. If you have to do it yourself, it is safer to drive home with a wrapped tree. Most places will slip your tree through a binder that wraps it in a net.
  • Prevent scratches. Place a tarp or blanket on top of the roof before you add the tree to prevent scratches.
  • Trunk goes first. When placing the tree on top of your vehicle, make sure the trunk is pointing toward the front. This is the most aerodynamic way to drive with a tree.
  • Tie down the tree. If you have roof rails, that is what you will use. If you don’t, open the doors and loop the rope across the cabin ceiling, or tie it to something sturdy inside.

Once everything is secure, give the tree a good tug. Drive home slowly and avoid highways. Need a new vehicle before your Christmas tree shopping? Visit us at Dependable Mitsubishi.
