Your car’s oil is like its blood. Without it, it is going to die. That is why it is so critical to keep up with your car’s oil changes. In fact, here are four reasons why oil changes are important.
Cooling. As the engine’s parts move, they create friction, which them creates heat. Oil helps draw the heat out of these parts to prevent them from overheating.
Lubrication. Inside the engine, everything is moving very fast. Without proper lubrication, it can cause these parts to seize or even break. Use the correct oil weight and grade to keep everything moving freely.
Cleaning. Another important oil function is to clean the engine. It will collect any dirt or other particles in your engine. Over time, as the oil gets dirtier and dirtier, it will begin to turn into sludge. Routine oil changes prevent this from happening and keep your engine clean.
Efficiency. By always having clean oil in your engine, you will keep your car’s efficiency where it is supposed to be. Dirty oil will make an engine work harder, thus wasting a lot of gas and money.

Every March, everyone’s favorite basketball tournament begins. Unfortunately, many of the games are held during work days. So, how can you enjoy the tournament at work without sacrificing your job? Here four great suggestions that we follow at Dependable Mitsubishi.
Fill out some brackets. This is undeniably one of the most exciting parts about the tournament. Fill out a bracket or two and predict who you think will win. Don’t forget that there are always at least one or two big upsets.
Create an office pool. Be sure to check with management before doing this. Many offices allow some type of tournament pool. For each bracket someone submits, they could put $5 into the pot. At the end, pay out the money to the winning brackets.
Watch a few games during lunch. Most of the time, employees can spend their lunch and break times how they want. Find out if you can turn on a game during your free time to catch some of the action.
Have a party. Start an office potluck event either scheduled during a lunch break of after work. Everyone can bring their favorite foods to share while you watch a game.
This year’s tournament promises to be a good one. You can bet that we at Dependable Mitsubishi will be talking about it the next time you visit.
The newest member of the Mitsubishi family is the 2018 Eclipse Cross. It is set to be an exciting, dynamic addition. Here are a few things you can expect in the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
It fits in the lineup size-wise between the Outlander and Outlander Sport. The next generations of both of these models will be larger and smaller, respectively.
There will be two engines to choose from. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline and there will be a 2.2-liter diesel available later in the model year.
Passengers will appreciate its spacious, versatile interior. It offers more interior space than most of the competition. With sliding, reclining rear seats, it is even more comfortable.
The Eclipse Cross comes well-equipped with lots of technology like an available head-up display. However, drivers will appreciate the manual buttons and knobs for the climate control without having to search through virtual menus.
It will offer plenty of available safety features, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision warning.
The all-new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be coming to Dependable Mitsubishi by the end of the year. If you want to be one of the first to drive home this new model, give us a call today.
Every year, your family heads out to your favorite Christmas tree farm and picks out the perfect tree for your home. Now, you have the problem of taking it home. Here are a few tips on how to transport your Christmas tree without damaging it or your car.
Trust the experts. If there are workers at the farm or lot who will help you load up your tree, or even do it for you, let them. They deal with hundreds of trees each year, while you only manage one.
Wrap the tree. If you have to do it yourself, it is safer to drive home with a wrapped tree. Most places will slip your tree through a binder that wraps it in a net.
Prevent scratches. Place a tarp or blanket on top of the roof before you add the tree to prevent scratches.
Trunk goes first. When placing the tree on top of your vehicle, make sure the trunk is pointing toward the front. This is the most aerodynamic way to drive with a tree.
Tie down the tree. If you have roof rails, that is what you will use. If you don’t, open the doors and loop the rope across the cabin ceiling, or tie it to something sturdy inside.
Once everything is secure, give the tree a good tug. Drive home slowly and avoid highways. Need a new vehicle before your Christmas tree shopping? Visit us at Dependable Mitsubishi.
Earlier this month, Mitsubishi unleashed details on the newest iteration of its popular economy model, the Mirage. If we learned one thing from the latest announcement, it’s that designers weren’t messing around when it came to the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage tech options. Even the base ES model has been outfitted with connectivity options that rival those of much pricier vehicle segments.
For 2018, the Mitsubishi Mirage ES base model (which starts at $13,395) will get a 7-inch touchscreen display audio unit that boasts a rearview camera and Bluetooth® phone and audio streaming, complemented by steering wheel Bluetooth® controls.
Connective technology only improves from there up the lineup. The 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage SE and GT trims both benefit from a center console USB port, as well as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
“The Mirage offers consumers a new vehicle option that provides the reliability, connectivity and warranty-reassurance that other cars in the segment cannot,” explained Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Mitsubishi Motors North America. “The practical appeal seen in its predecessors is at the core of the 2018 Mirage and we look forward to seeing this model-year continue to build on its steadfast momentum.”
The affordable and tech-laden Mirage manages 43 miles per gallon on the highway* and comes with Mitsubishi’s gold-star warranty: the best in the industry. Test drive the 2018 Mirage today at Dependable Mitsubishi.
Tires are one of the most crucial elements of your car and your safety on the road. Over time, tires become worn down and eventually need to be replaced. How do you know when it’s time to replace your tires? Here are the four common warning signs you need new tires:
Tread depth: The single biggest indicator that it’s time to replace your tires is the wearing away of your tire tread, which is imperative for good traction, especially in rainy and wintry weather. Use the old penny test to make sure your tires are in good shape.
Cracks: The sidewalls of your tires will begin to show age with cracks; these are often your first warning signs that a leak is impending—or worse, that your tire could blow out.
Changing tire pressure: If your tire keeps losing pressure—faster than your other tires—it’s possible you have a leak. Bring it in to Heritage Mitsubishi, and we’ll take a look.
Vibration: Your car will shake on the highway at high speeds, inevitably. However, too much vibration is a sure sign that your tires could be misaligned or ready for replacement. Vibration can be a sign of other issues, too, so it’s best to let a professional investigate.

Each year, Mitsubishi hosts Mitsubishi Owners Day–twice. One of the Owners Days is for the west coast and the other is for the east coast. What makes these days special? Mitsubishi owners from all over the country come together to show off their vehicles, celebrate their brand, and raise money for good causes. That’s because 100% of the proceeds for Mitsubishi Owners Day go to a charitable cause.
This year, the West Coast MOD was held on July 8th in Cypress, California, at the brand’s North American headquarters. With the money raised from participants in the event, Mitsubishi was able to make a donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, which serves 250,000 hungry people in the area.
The East Coast MOD was held more recently on August 19th at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The money raised at this event went to the Wounded Warriors Project, which empowers injured veterans and their families.
“Both of these influential organizations work to improve the well-being of their respective communities,” remarked Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Mitsubishi Motors is committed to giving back and we trust that the donations made will help further their efforts.”
In total, more than 5,000 people participated this year, which marks the 100th anniversary for Mitsubishi. We at Dependable Mitsubishi are grateful to all those who participated.
Mitsubishi is preparing to become a solely SUV-focused automaker in the US, and it’s pretty clear why: Mitsubishi does SUVs very well. Just take the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, for instance. There’s a whole lot to love about the new Outlander, such as the following:
It has a great warranty. Mitsubishi offers the best warranties in the industry, such as the Outlander’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
It is incredibly efficient. The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander can achieve up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway, despite its larger size.*
It is affordable, to boot. The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander was named to Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com’s “10 Most Affordable 3-Row Vehicles” of 2017 list.
It offers a lot of seating. It seats up to seven passengers, as a matter of fact, and keeps them comfortable and entertained with available features like front dual-zone automatic climate control and the premium Rockford Fosgate® surround sound system.
It’s got a bevy of safety technologies. Available safety tech includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert, the Multi-View Camera System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation, Super All-Wheel Control, Blind Spot Warning, and Lane Departure Warning
Here in Vero Beach, Florida, we know that the summer sun means business. Keeping your car cool is crucial when driving—not just for your comfort, but for your safety. Here are some easy tips to keep your car cool in the Florida heat.
Use your AC. Make sure your AC is in fine working order (you can have it tested at Dependable Mitsubishi if something seems off), and use it when traveling in hot temperatures. If possible, turn on your AC a few minutes before getting into your car to cool it off.
Park Smartly. Ward off heat by parking in the shade, whenever possible. If you’ll be away from your car for a few hours, anticipate where the shade will be in the final hour before returning to your car. If you can, park your car so that most of the sunlight will hit the rear of your car, so that the steering wheel won’t be hot to the touch.
Invest in Window Shades. Buy window shades to suction to your windows, as well as a big reflective one for your windshield.
Leave Windows Cracked. If you are in an area where you feel comfortable and rain is not on the menu, consider cracking your windows just a touch. Doing so will allow some air to circulate, though not much.
