It’s springtime in Florida, so it’s time to have some fun in the sun. These Florida beach activities are enjoyable, especially when you beat the summer crowds.
Islands off the coast
You won’t be able to bring your Mitsubishi with you, but if you want to get away to an island off the coast, Florida has options like Sanibel Island, Marco Island, or Egmont Key. They all have their own unique histories and local wildlife. Many are even nature preserves and parks.
Cultural centers like Naples, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, and Panama City Beach are all popular tourist destinations for a reason. Each offer several local restaurants and shopping opportunities, as well as beautiful beaches.
Florida includes a load of beautiful state parks like Bahia Honda State Park, which includes close proximity to the crystal-blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. See the local flora and fauna, or go canoeing, fishing, or scuba-diving.
Places like Hollywood Beach have attracted tourists since the 1920s, and much of the architecture and attractions include vintage flair. Key West offers similar historic value, as well as Fort De Soto Park near St. Petersburg. The downtown center of New Smyrna Beach preserves historical architecture while also featuring an eclectic art scene.

Summer on America’s coasts is something spectacular, whether you’re basking in Atlantic sunlight, catching a wave on a Pacific swell, or relaxing with a couple lines in the water at one of the Great Lakes. A plethora of little towns dot our nation’s coastlines, but all these sweet cities and quaint getaways are not created equal. All of us here at Dependable Mitsubishi are a bit partial to our hometown, but the results are in, and it is now confirmed that Vero Beach is a cut above the rest. Coastal Living has just named Vero Beach the fourth happiest seaside town in the country!
To determine which seaside town is happiest, Coastal Living solicited nominations through social media and then went on to compare those nominations to the towns ranking on the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index, percentage of clear and sunny days, the overall healthiness of the beaches, crime statistics, walkability, standard of living, and editorial input on the “coastal vibe” of each town. After assessing these factors carefully, Vero Beach snagged the fourth happiest seaside town title, beating out Cannon Beach, Oregon; Bellport, New York; Hampton Beach, New Hampshire; Cambria, California; Anna Maria, Florida; and Bluffton, South Carolina.
Congratulations to all the happy citizens, local leaders, and visitors of Vero Beach!
